IMPOSTER

What is Imposter Syndrome?
Imposter Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which an individual has pervasive feelings of self-doubt, insecurity, or internalized fear of being exposed for being a “fraud” despite there being external evidence of their abilities.
Problem
It is estimated that 70% of the U.S. population has had an encounter with Imposter Syndrome at some point in their life. Imposter Syndrome is often tied with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. However, not many resources are available for people who suffer from Imposter Syndrome.
Solution: IMPOSTER
IMPOSTER is a non-profit that aims to educate and provide resources to people who experience Imposter Syndrome. Many people who suffer imposter syndrome suffer alone from fear of being found out, IMPOSTER aims to create a place of community so people can feel less alone.

User Persona

Wireframe
Starting with the wireframe for the website, I mapped out the layout of the site. The plan was to have all the main sections of the website laid out so nothing is hidden and everything can be seen with just a scroll.
However, I soon realized that I did not put enough consideration on images and graphics in the wireframe. Later in the design process I decided to cut down on text and include more graphic elements.
Mockup 1
After creating the wireframe , I started considering the design elements of the website such as the visual identity and graphics.
I went for a cool, calm color scheme with a gradient that goes from dark to light. This was to represent the dark, negative feelings a person experiencing Imposter Syndrome may have, but as they navigate through the site they are provided with resources and support which would hopefully make them have a more positive outlook.
Mockup 2
While refining the mockup, the graphics were updated to be cleaner, sharper, and more detailed. The placement text was also updated with real content for the website.
Final
Before finalizing the design, I utilized some feedback I received and made some minor changes. I reduced the amount of text, changed the message on the homepage to be more positive, and rearranged minor details of the layout to be more user friendly.
“Are you not good enough?” was changed to “You are good enough, don’t let imposter syndrome tell you otherwise”.
A statistic about the seriousness of Imposter Syndrome was also included to show the importance of the issue.
